Sharon, Taiwan mother of Audrey, camper

Sharon, Mother of Audrey

My daughter is a very introverted girl. When I told her about the camp, she was very excited but also very worried about whether she had enough English to survive in the camp and if she could get along with other students in the U.S. During the camp, she did not call me or text me much, which means she really enjoyed the camp, and there was no homesickness at all.

The purpose of most Taiwanese students going to the U.S camp is learning English. I found, not only did her English improve a lot, she also experienced a very wonderful life in Washington State. The camp taught them how to observe plants, be close to nature, build a tipi, tie a goat, meet mountain men, care for people, face their fears, and so on.... The most important thing was they learned how to be independent, respect parents, and find their core values. It was very fun, knowledgeable, and good to introspect yourself. I encourage all the students to experience this camp. They will learn a lot and have an unforgettable memory.
